Stoicism & it's Principles

Updated: Oct 8, 2020

Stoicism teaches the development of self-control and fortitude as a means of overcoming destructive emotions; the philosophy holds that becoming a clear and unbiased thinker allows one to understand the universal reason

The 8 Principles Cognitive Distancing: View your life from above to have a better perspective on the situation. Process Orientation: The process is more important than the result. Negative Visualization: Premeditate on worst case scenarios - accept what can happen. Memento Mori: Remember you will die to keep perspective on what matters. Think then React: Embrace the gap between event and reaction. Dichotomy of Control: Is this within your control or not? Challenge Impressions: Is your belief really true? What's your evidence? Amor Fati: Love your fate - accept what happens to you.
